Default The "F*ck That...This Rocks!!!" Thread

Blow your credibility!
Declare your love for those unfashionable songs you've always had a soft spot for but, were too embarrassed to disclose.

Vincent by Don McLean

A beautifully written song by Don McLean after he'd read a book about the troubled artist Vincent Van Gogh.
OK we all know that, but when you consider how quickly this song was completed after putting pen to paper, its nothing short of a masterpiece.
Everything about this song has me feeling strangely, happily melancholic.
There's nothing impressionistic about 'Vincent'. Every single word is crystal clear and at a tempo that demands the listener to listen, to understand.
Sad and uplifting all at the same time.
Unfashionable? Yes, but without doubt one of my all time favourite songs.

A have a big thing for Genius of Love by The Tom Tom Club which is a song that has suffered from guilt by association due to the enormous amount of terrible RnB and hip hop songs that have sampled it (mainly Mariah Carey).

I don't care what anyone says, this is a fantastic song. It was massive when I was at school and it's since become one of the musical skeletons in my closet.

I love this song. Natalie in that video mesmerises me every time I see it.
It makes me want to marry her...amongst other things.

Culture Club - Karma Chameleon

Wham! - Wake Me Up Before You Go-Go
Hell yes!

Genesis - Misunderstanding

This one's not so much unfashionable to those who know and enjoy their earlier work...but in general Genesis is pretty unfashionable. But I love this song, and some of their other later stuff.

I'd love to see your signature/links too, but the huge and obnoxious ones have caused me to block all signatures.

F*ck yes! Great song that.

I'll post one more confession myself and spend tomorrow picking up the pieces of my credibility...

Tell me about it. Collins always gets a bad rep, but even if he's responsable for some of the worst novelty songs of the 1980s (Illegal Alien, Sussudio), he also had some great pop songs under his belt.

I still think That's All is a great song.
