The Best British Songs Written In The Last 25 Years According To The Brit Awards
'Heroes’ David Bowie
‘We Are The Champions’ Queen ‘Wuthering Heights’ Kate Bush ‘Night Fever’ Bee Gees ‘London Calling’ The Clash ‘Love Will Tear Us Apart’ Joy Division ‘That's Entertainment’ The Jam ‘I Don't Want To Talk About It’ Rod Stewart ‘Look of Love’ ABC ‘Golden Brown’ The Stranglers ‘True’ Spandau Ballet ‘Careless Whisper’ George Michael ‘Holding Back The Year’ Simply Red ‘Sledgehammer’ Peter Gabriel ‘Sacrifice’ Elton John ‘Unfinished Sympathy’ Massive Attack ‘Why’ Annie Lennox ‘Fields of Gold’ Sting ‘Kiss From A Rose’ Seal ‘Wonderwall’ Oasis ‘Angels’ Robbie Williams ‘Yellow’ Coldplay ‘Babylon’ David Gray ‘Leave Right Now’, Will Young ‘Dry Your Eyes’ The Streets Dear god thats pathetic. So let me see if i`ve got this right , The sex pistols have the well known & highest charting punk song (God Save The Queen) yet the Clash get the nod instead. And what the hell are the Sranglers doing on there? No synth pop at all , so no Japan , No Human League , No Soft Cell No 2 Tone so no Madness or The Specials The 2 biggest & most influential 80s acts are missing (The Cure & The Smiths) The Stone Roses who virtually single handedly revived 90s British music are totally ignored. The whole Britpop movement represented by Oasis? No Pulp , Blur , Suede , The Verve? Why the **** is David ****ing Grey on there & No Elvis Costello? The whole of the last 5 songs are just a joke. Pathetic. |

What the ****? I just caught the last few songs on that list as I accidentally scolled too far and thought this was a 'worst songs of the naughties' or something like that!!
The last few have been nominated by a five year old kid who had been living in a box and not allowed near any decent music for the past few years, and some inbetween - what the hell?? Simply Red? You must be kidding me. Where's the Smiths, where's well, everyone mentioned above really?? In the Stranglers defence, Golden Brown is a good song. It deserves to be on that list as much as half the nonsense on there anyway. I'm gonna write my own list, most of that one's giving us a bad name.

UGH! Dirty F*ckers!!! What kinda good stuff were they smoking when they decided to leave out The Cure, Morrissey and the smiths, and costello. They didn't even pick the best songs from Bowie, Joy Division, Massive Attack, Annie Lennox, The Streets, or Queen.
Brit Awards= Sh*t

whoa, a lot of that list i disagree with, but dont forget the brits are a pop- orientated institution. im glad to see "kissed by a rose" by seal. classic. fields of gold, golden brown, london calling, we are the champions, unfinished symphony, wuthering heights- glad to see them all there. the last 5 - an absolute joke. and if your going to put david gray in it, surely it would be sail away.
