Oh well, not everybody is going to like everything. As far as more material by The Interpestuals is concerned, apart from ReviveR there is nothing else available on the Internet. The band seemingly disappeared or fell through or something and have not been heard from since.

Edmonton, Alberta I'm not going to lie and say I know a lot about Edmonton. It's home to the West Edmonton Mall which is the largest mall in North America and the hockey team The Edmonton Oilers. It's also pretty close to Calgary. Well that's about all I know off the top of my head so I'll just jump into this week's entries who are familiar to long time follows, The Smalls. About two months ago I sent off The Smalls' '99 album My Dear Little Angle which got some positive feedback. If you're not aware of this band, they're essentially a group that did an excellent combination of metal, jazz, punk, country and rock. One of the more rock oriented bands I listen to, with high energy and well written instrumentation and lyrics they really are a unique and rare band. Considering The Smalls are pretty much the only band from Edmonton that I'm aware of, they're really the only group that I can give out. However I'm not going to sending out the same CD again, instead I went to the liberty of uploading their other three albums so people can have their entire discography. So there's three albums for you to choose from:
Also as an added bonus there's going to be a fourth album, the 2007 release of former Smalls bassist Corb Lund's county album Horse Soldier! Horse Soldier! which is quite possibly one of the greatest country albums I've ever heard. It's not Gothic Country, a genre I'm known for raising awareness for, but it's not the annoying pop country crap you hear on the radio either. I think I'm just going to start sending off the CD's along with the links for people again, however I have to go out very soon so it won't be for a few hours, patience people. I would really like to see some more in the way of feedback though. |

An interesting-looking batch there Pete. Thanks for the PM too - I'll make use of those links shortly. Can't get back to you about LuciDreams and the Villains just yet, as I haven't had the chance for them just yet. I'll report back soon enough though

Winnipeg, Manitoba
For those of you who know your geography then you'll notice how I skipped over Saskatchewan, the "middle" Province in Canada. If you know anything about Saskatchewan then you'll understand why I skipped it because besides wheat, I think their only other export is the comedy show "Corner Gas". To sum it up, I don't have any artists from that Province, but I do have one from Winnipeg, so it made sense to just skip over it and move on. You'll also notice that I decided to a frame from a Simpsons episode rather than an actual real picture. I chose that one in particular because it pretty much sums up my feelings for Winnipeg and Manitoba altogether. It's a cold place that's only redeeming factor is that they have polar bears, that's it. So rather than drone on about why I dislike Winnipeg (It could basically be summed up into one word, "Cold") I'll move onto the only artist I could find from that region on Canada, Gruf The Druid or just Gruf. Gruf is an... interesting man to say the very least. He's a hip hop artist, however his songs tend to deal more with nature, the human mind, and the existence of extra terrestrials. Production wise... I'm pretty sure he does everything himself and on his first album Druidry it's pretty evident. His second album, Hopeless is a far more polished version, but there's just something lacking there. As rough as Druidry may have been, I do think it's the stronger of the two just due to the content matter. You can really hear his passion for it and you can tell that he's most likely faced harsh criticism from his peers, however he continues to record and distribute despite all the naysayers. I'm not going to lie to you, his stuff is a little weird and can be hard to get into, I don't expect many people to come back to me with "oh my god this is the greatest thing ever", I know I sure as fuck didn't. Give it a try and if you don't like it, keep it and try again another time when you don't have anything else you want to listen to. He does grow on you, I can assure you of that, it just takes time. |

I wouldn't have known about Winnipeg if it wasn't for Venetian Snares Winnipeg is a Frozen ****hole album, looks like his opinion isn't exclusive. Judging by the videos he isn't the only talented guy there.
