Haha, IRL I'm quite laid back. MammaStunt has always said "You're so laid back, you're horizontal." I guess I just come off a bit serious on here sometimes. I always got the impression you didn't like me, that upset me dearly. Glad to know you do!

If I ever make it to England, I'll dial you up provided you're legal. I just need to get free of this ball and chain I have.

Also, your taste in music... You like Metallica rather a lot. But you also like The White Stripes. You also like Tom Waits, but I'm indifferent to him. That's all I know about your taste, so it's a toughie. Do you have RateYourMusic/Last.FM so I can have a nosey? |

Metallica is a legendary band whether you like them or not. And if you don't like Waits you're listening to the wrong ****. Other acts I really like: Black Keys Brad Paisley Cake Queens of the Stone Age Jay-Z I like some Mars Volta but I usually just put them on in the background My Morning Jacket Langhorne Slim Drive-by Truckers Nick Cave I like some of the National I'm growing to like Mumford & Sons, but Little Lion Man is a cancer on music. Modest Mouse Maroon 5 is a band that can jam out as far as I'm concerned. TV on the Radio have the ability to kill me. MC Paul Barman Ryan Adams Calexico I listen to a ****load of pop which I explain in my blog. Thursday Bands I ****ing hate Muse Klaxx !!! Any and all forms of emo Almost all R&B Jurrasic 5 Howie Day I'm sure theres more, but I can't think of any currently.

Metallica are legendary? I dunno about that. They were once a respectable band that should've given it up years ago, just like U2. Should've fucked off years ago. Meh, mixed bag. I don't like The Mars Volta, I slightly prefer ATDI. Muse are good. ALL R&B? Do you mean all contemporary R&B or just R&B full stop? Most Emo is shit, I'd say over 90%. Bits and bobs out there that's pretty good though, but not really my thing. !!! are a bit rubbish. TV On The Radio are okay, not 'love worthy' though. Maroon 5 are God awful. Ryan Adams is a little boring. Never been able to really get into Cake, probably listened to the wrong album or summin' but what I heard I thought was poor. Drive-By Truckers, same as Cake really. Picked an album at random, Pizza Deliverance I think and it wasn't bad... but I didn't feel the need to listen to them again. But you like Modest Mouse, QOTSA and Nick Cave so you're not all bad. |

You included, it seems. I think I've covered most of my interest in the bands that date back over the previous decades and I'm unlikely to go over them again, unless I see the need to defend them due to some members blase indifference to what I'd consider to be a classic band, or some numpty's moronic claims with regards to an entire genre who's history appears to have been rewritten to include the latest theory according to the latest generation of 'music lovers'. You're right about the modding burning me out. Add to that a lengthy and ridiculously unhealthy stay, plus the fact that I usually tend to use these boards as a means of discovering new music. ( I don't think I've ever averaged more than 5 posts per day, much less these days) On new music. I'll either quickly discard as being tediously generic, or simply not of any real interest to me. And all that after only a brief listen. I like to sort the wheat from the chaff, so to speak, And the quicker the better. Even then, there's probably more than a few bands that have fallen victim to this tactic that probably deserved a fairer go, but unless something grabs me pretty instantly with either it's uniqueness, or musical superiority...it'll get binned pretty quick. I've got a very fussy ear. Which brings me to my love/obsession with the music of Northern Soul. A particular type of uptempo 60's rare Soul/R&B of which I refuse to get confused with any other genre. So much so, that I have two music collections segregated in different locations in the house. Northern Soul resides in my bedroom, away from the kids, under pain of death. The rest lives in my living room available for everyday use and the occasional guest. With the odd exception...I don't love them equally! |

Uh, well a couple reasons.
First the music does almost nothing for me. Then the auxilliery is terrible. I hate the voice, I have the hype they got. Admittedly, I've heard only 1 song "must be the moonlight" but I was so offended I won't go back unless given the most successful, absolute mater piece they have. Quote:
I'm actually not bad at all. I just think tea part civility is for the birds. Quote:
If you average less than 5 a day, how are we supposed to remember? Also, Northern Soul appears to be beyond music in some capacities. No?
