They peaked with Fear Of Music for me.

And you can just forget about David Byrne solo, there's only so much of the man you can take. Though Rei Momo is an alright album, and props to what he did for Brazilian music and everything....

Hold your tongue young 'un! Rei Momo's a fantastic album :D

Nothing But Flowers is one of my favourite Talking Heads songs, but I've never managed to truly appreciate it as a truly great album. With regards to essential Heads album it's all about Fear Of Music, Remain In Light and Little Creatures for me.

Fear of Music is easily my favorite Talking Heads record. "Cities" alone is worth the price of admission IMO.

I was actually disappointed by the TH for the first time the other night. The final lines of Once in a Lifetime that are: "time isn't holding us, time isn't after us, same as it ever was, same as it ever was."

I had always thought it was actually "Time isn't holding up, time is an asterisk, same as it ever was, same as it ever was."

When I discovered the truth, I was a little disappointed. I've been singing "time is an asterisk" for like 16 years now.

I can't speak to the truthfulness of that statement, but if I am, I'm guessing its a lot more fun here than everyone elses. Trust me, the song was way better then.

I believe you.
However, I spent a good 10 minutes before posting, wondering exactly how "time is an asterisk" and how you squared it off as being acceptable as a sense making lyric for the last 16 years...and then I gave up.

David Byrne will be rolling over in his grave some day, singing time is an asterisk.

Oh, what? Since when do song lyrics make any sense? Have you heard Beck's "Loser"?

Edit: Also, time being an asterisk could mean that it (time) introduces exceptions or clarifies.
