I've always thought that '77 and Buildings and Food were fairly comparable in terms of quality. Well actually, I think Buildings and Food is a little more cohesive as an overall album (maybe because of Eno helping produce it). But Remain in Light is by far their best album, and easily one of the best albums of the 80s, or even of the past 50 years.
