Yeah but he still hates Talking Heads even in adulthood so you CAN hold it against him.

If they annoy you that much stop hanging around little girls.

Most adults-usually in their mid-30's get tired of listening to music--but occasionally they'll buy a cd so they can have inoffensive background music for dinner parties or washing the dishes, or making love---like the talking heads, or that new john mayer album.

Talking Heads? Inoffensive background music? Are you kidding me?

Dude, I was the DJ for my brother's 19th birthday party and I actually played Talking Heads 77 and Remain in Light.

Mom told me to turn it off when it got to Adrian Belew's guitar solo in The Great Curve, for she thought it was too raucous, and she's a hair metal fan.

it's not that they get tired of listening to music... it's that they get tired of being told what 'good' music is. they get tired of having to defend their tastes to people who's diapers they've changed. they get tired of that same bogus argument they were having 10-15 years ago when they were finishing high school / starting uni that, thanks to internet message boards, will never not be in the spotlight. even those who are still interested in new music get bored with the same constant flow of 'debates' about the merits of this band or style vs. that band or style.

what someone listen to is NOT relevant. why they listen to it IS.

Why don't you tell us what offensive foreground music you enjoy, asshat?
