Hard to beat Alexisonfire... From wikipedia:

The band's name was derived from Alexis Fire, the world's only lactating contortionist stripper. This caused problems when she discovered that they were using her website name as their band name, and she threatened to sue the band for copyright infringement. However, it was discovered that the moniker was not registered, and no further action took place.

If thats the case then we probably wont hear from you for months, that game can be very addictive, say goodbye to your social life.

Picked out of a load of doodles of band names that one of the members made in a scrap book i believe.

I thought the band name for "Pigeon Detectives" was picked in a funny way (look it up on wiki for the full story). In short: some Australian guy thought it up when they were discussing band names. But when the promoter for their first gig asked about their band name they just stuck with it.

20. The National

This one cracks me up, well as much as something like this could crack someone up.

They named their band The National because they wanted something meaningless and benign. It turned out to be a bit of a mistake because no one could find their website. So they named their website AmericanMary.com but, of course, no one knows to look for them there, either.
