I was headed home on Saturday morning around 8 and some ******* fell asleep and sideswiped my Explorer, I swerved really hard, flipped my car, and now I have a broken neck. And a huge gash on my head. And a cut on my eye. And a bruised lung. And I'm out $105, I managed to sell my ticket to someone I know in Chicago for $100 yesterday. So that should end any jealousy. Plus I now have to wear a neck brace, can't drive, can't run, and can't see any concerts for 8 weeks.

Mogwai! Whoop!

Go and see Mogwai live. Immediately. One of the most intense live acts i've seen easily, made up for the torrential rain easily.

I am going to two festivals over our summer which both have a huge list of pretty good bands and I'm very much excited! Some bands (from both fesitvals) include:

Faith No More
Muse
The Mars Volta
Mastodon
Meshuggah
Isis
Jane's Addiction
Anti-flag
My Chemical Romance
Paramore
HIM
Alexisonfire
Trivium
Sunny Day Real Estate
Eagles of Death Metal
Reel Big Fish

...and lots more. I'm not keen on a few of the bands listed (guess which ones, ha) but still pretty pumped!

RonaldSays 10-12-2009 10:11 AM

Some pretty interesting bands in that line up. Nice!

Astronomer 01-05-2010 06:46 PM

If anyone in New Zealand is familiar with this festival, well I'm going to it:

Rippon Open Air Festival 2010

Little Bushman, Minuit, The Mint Chicks, Fat Freddy's Drop, Iva Lamkum, Pacific Heights Live, The Black Seeds, Eru Dangerspiel, Opensouls, Electric Wire Hustle, The Slur-Tones.

I'm a bit anxious as I bought the ticket on a whim when I found out I'd be in the country, but I don't know anyone else who is going so I will be a bit of a loner, ha.

But I'm most excited about Fat Freddy's Drop and The Black Seeds!

Yeah, I'm green with envy. I want to hate you, but I can't. lol. I'm sure you'll have lots of fun, just take it as a chance to meet new and interesting people.

Aw, I know, I think I'm hated by a couple of people at the moment (i.e. you and jackhammer, lol), but I'll definitely be thinking of you two when FFD and the seeds come on! :)

Have these festivals been yet? I really want to see FNM live! Have you ever seen Muse live? Mastodon were absolutely unbelievable when i saw them, i wasnt even that big a fan before the show.

Trivium however, remain the only band i have ever walked out on during their show.

Nope they haven't been yet! Unfortunately I had to sell my ticket to one of them as I'm moving overseas, but I'm still seeing Faith No More at their own show in New Zealand in late February! I can't wait, it's definitely the band I am looking forward to seeing the most.

Muse I haven't seen yet either, that festival is at the end of this month. I've never seen them live but I'm a pretty big fan so I'm looking forward to it, plus I've heard good things.

Unfortunately due to selling one of my tickets/moving I won't be seeing Mastodon or Trivium or a few of those other bands! Looks like I won't be missing out with Trivium, though. I was never really much of a fan of them to start with.

So yeah, none of them have happened yet... I don't know what it's like over there but here you always have to buy your ticket months and months in advance!

Mojo 01-06-2010 03:26 PM

Its the same here for festivals. Glastonbury even make you apply beforehand and you just have to hope that you get one. You pay for your ticket before you even know the line up.

Trivium were awful. Ive seen some God awful gigs but always stayed to the very end. Not with Trivium though, i just couldnt take any more. I went back to the pub over the road from the venue and it was full of people who had also paid to be at the gig.

You'll love Muse. I wasnt a Muse fan when i saw them live for the first time in 2001. I had Showbiz and really wasnt very fond of it at all. I was a fan after the show though.

FETCHER. 01-06-2010 04:02 PM

I'm thinking of going to a festival called Rockness which is located at eh, Loch Ness. Only part of the line up has been released.

The Strokes
BBC1 Radio is their official radio partner to the festival.
2MANYDJ'S
SoulWax
Justice

Yay! :D

ElephantSack 01-06-2010 04:10 PM

I've only been to one mutli-day festival, and that was the Bonnarroo 2007 Music and Arts Festival.
Line up highlights:
Tool
The Roots
Clutch
Ween
Rodrigo y Gabriela
The White Stripes
The Police
Tortoise
Gogol Bordello
Stanton Moore Trio
Flight of the Conchords
Demitri Martin
Dave Attell
Lewis Black

and enough drugs to kill all of mainland Europe and the Shetland Islands.

also thinking of going to see 50 cent on his tour as well

The Abracadaver 01-19-2010 03:22 PM

I'm reeeeeeaaaallly hoping to go to The Fest in Gainesville this year. I turn 18 and therefore it becomes legal for me to attend! Seriously, the Fest looks like the most amazing thing ever. This is the website for the Fest 2009:

The Fest 8 :: Gainesville, FL :: Oct 30, Oct 31, Nov 1 :: Home

trouserjazz 01-19-2010 03:25 PM

Glastonbury, thats all I want and need.

bubblenoise 01-19-2010 05:09 PM

After seeing the lineup this morning I definitely think I'm going to go ahead and book a trip to Coachella this year. The last time I went was in '04 and thought it would be my first and last time. The following years' lineups definitely weren't worth the treacherous trip but me thinks I have to see Thom Yorke in the flesh (finally) and Sunny Day Real Estate who I unfortunately missed when they rolled through here. All in all, I give this year's lineup a big thumbs up.

FETCHER. 01-22-2010 05:41 PM

I'd love to go to glastonbury, it unfortunately seems a dream for me, unless I make friends in the area it's held I'll never go :(

dnbDreamz 01-25-2010 04:00 AM

Coachella is looking pretty stacked thus far. Still waiting for other lineups to come out, but it's looking good!

RonaldSays 02-09-2010 09:12 AM

I was thinking of maybe going to Glastonbury this year since it's the 40th anniversary. But I'm not living in the UK so it's a costly trip. But I registered so I could keep my options open. It sold out in bloody 12 hours before I could even think about going there. And they got Stevie Wonder!

stormjh 02-09-2010 09:17 AM

I'm probably going going glasto for free this year, score.

And I go next year free as part of my uni course next year I think.

Double score.

FETCHER. 02-09-2010 09:36 AM

Er, free :(? How on earth :(?

stormjh 02-09-2010 10:08 AM

This year because a friend of mines dad is probably running some witch doctoring (alternative therapy) stall at it, and he's gonna say we're working for him.

Next year because I can do it as work experience for my course at uni.

You have no idea how much I'd love to go to Glasto. If it wasn't for the geographically barrier, and money situation I'd go every year.

I'm jealous :(.

stormjh 02-09-2010 06:34 PM

I've also got a friend who knows Michael Eavis due to her working in the cheese shop he frequents. Haha.

Lizard Queen 02-09-2010 06:50 PM

Summerfest in Wisconsin

I will NOT be seeing Carrie Underwood or Tim Mcgraw, there will be more added in the lineup later. I saw Foghat last year.

One place I never want to do. Over 200,000 people. Flags everywhere, you can't see the band unless you like being crushed like a tin can and £5 for a cup of warm piss AKA glasto lager and tickets that cost the earth- no thanks.

True although I've heard that "T in the Park" was one of the best things a few of my mates have ever done, it's smaller and cosier than Glasto though, Glasto has a better line up at it. I'd kill to even go to T in the Park or Rockness up here, just too expensive :(.

mimi87nis 02-10-2010 03:52 PM

I recommend Exit festival in Novi Sad, Serbia. It's one of the most popular festivals in Europe, great performers, low costs, beautiful location. I'll put some more info if anybody wants.

Urban Hat€monger ? 02-10-2010 03:58 PM

It's always been one of my fantasies to nuke Glastonbury

stormjh 02-10-2010 04:10 PM

Glasto doesn't look that bad, jsut stick to the smaller stages. Reading/leeds is a festival I'd probably hate.

I may try and sort something for Bestival though, that usually has a good lineup.

FETCHER. 03-02-2010 05:53 PM

T in the Park sold out :( I didn't get my ticket :( I hate life...

edit: In 45 ****ing minutes may I add.

Zer0 03-27-2010 06:07 PM

I'm going to Electric Picnic this year, can't freaking wait :D

The lineup's looking pretty sweet:

Electric Picnic 2010

gogojessicat 03-30-2010 10:46 PM

CLEARWATERFESTIVAL.ORG

This looks fantastic. Particularly Steve Earle & Rhett Miller

Who wants to take me for my birthday? :)

I continue to say that I would like to do Glastonbury at least once. I love festivals and so to experience Glastonbury is something I think i would like to do at some point. Whether its good or bad doesnt matter, just to give it a go.

However every year i just think fuck it and end up going somewhere else.

I havent been for a few years but i used to have so much fun at Leeds. You get such a mix of people so yeah, you get some idiots and some troublemakers but also meet alot of friendly people. It was always a very positive experience for me.

Friends over in Ireland keep telling me about this. I should check it out sometime.

stormjh 03-31-2010 08:00 AM

This year I'm gonna try and make Camp Bestival with a friend, mother****ing parliament/funkadellic are playing.

I still wanna do ATP as well though I probably wont have the funds or anyone to go with though.

This is my first time going to it. It's a more mature indie/artistic alternative to Oxegen (which i've been to 4 times and can be really hit or miss as regards the line-up). The Electric Picnic line-up this year is fantastic: Massive Attack, LCD Soundsystem, Beach House, Modest Mouse, Jonsi, Fever Ray and loads more. Should be a cracking weekend :D
