I find U2's "How To Dismantle An Atomic Bomb" pretty up there with the down feelings.
Apart from Vertigo its all so dreary.
And Coldplay, I like some of their songs but it gets too much for me, it makes the world feel colder when I'm listening to them.

I went with a classical composer because there are a few that I find quite depressing.

But yeah.

1. Classical composers
2. Nirvana
3. Radiohead
4. Smashing Pumpkins
5. Alice in Chains

Im sure he was saying the band was. I think Staid is pretty depressing, couple that with the fact that they got airplay, thats kinda depressing.

Are you kidding me?, ok computer and amnesiac are extreamly depressing, and siamese dream and mellon collie have some of the gloomiest lyrics ever, even when the songs sound upbeat, and Alice In Chains are one of the most depressing grunge bands, which is saying a lot. =)

coldplay - anyone who bases all of their songs on exactly the same chord progression has got to be depressing
