Most depressing band.. and the winner is:
By far the most depressing band I've ever heard, but there's a great solace in their music and a get sense of feeling, and even some hope there. I always listen to Joy Division when I'm down, Ian Curtis really did cut his veins open and bleed for us. The Smiths would be up there, but Marr's guitar playing is so damn catchy and uplifting despite Moz's dark cynical lyrics. |

^^ Codeine's a good pick. As well as Rivulets and Pedro the Lion.
When you listen to song titled "Second Best" over and over it kinda gets to you after a while.

Codeine are definitely one of the most depressing bands I've ever heard.
Also a lot of Red House Painters songs nearly crack me up, especially this But as was said before, Joy Division are pretty much the winners.

This song is about a factory worker who commits suicide. Coupled with the stark instrumentation and lacerating vocal, it's actually quite harrowing. Obvious pick, but this song delivers one hell of a kick to the balls with its desperate tale of loneliness. Honestly, just read/listen to the lyrics. |
