Tom Waits - "Dead and Lovely" "Trampled Rose" "Tom Traubert's Blues" "Warm Beer and Cold Women" John Prine - "Six o'clock News" "Far From Me" "Sam Stone" Opeth - "To Rid The Disease" "Windowpane" "Hope Leaves"

Out of the list I picked Smashing Pumpkins....
When I was teenager and my dad heard me playing smashing pumpkins he would always open the door of my bedroom and ask if i was ok.... Because "I was listening to music to blow your brains out too". I agree with ya Elephant sack on John Prine... Hes got some good depressing songs, drink alone music. |

Smashing Pumpkins are quite depressive I suppose, Mayonaise is a sad song althogh completely brilliant at the same time. I like how a few of their songs are about how bad things in life are.

Dave Matthews has the whiniest voice ever, imo.

Hate him if you want but Matthew's voice never really struck me as whiny... some of his songs can be a little grating at times but whiny is probably not an adjective I'd use...

I say that and yet I don't have any of his albums.. maybe I'll get one eventually. Live at Luther College most definitely. Well back on topic "Do you still remember when we were little? When we were playing in the park and you asked me what happens when you die. I said you forget everything ... everything. 'Even you?' you asked. 'Yes, even me'. You did not want to die. Never forget. The remains of what we used to have were taken away with the softest squeeze. How did I forget? How..." EDIT: And quite a bit of other Suicidal/Depressive Black Metal. I think that should be voted as the most expository genre name ever
