I think I would have enjoyed being born in the 70's. That way I could have enjoyed the 70's and early 80's metal era. I barely started getting into metal in the late 90's.

You wouldn't want to be born in the 70s or you'd miss out on it, you'd be a little kid, which means your music collection would consist of Bay City Rollers and David Cassidy records.

i thank god every morning that i was too young to care when Kurt Cobain died.

still had to sift through his shit on the radio for some ten years after that.

I like the music scene now. I wish I could go back in time and see Elliott Smith but that wouldn't have to do with age so much as me being aware of his existence at an earlier age.

Well if King George III had initiated a draft you probably start to see radicalism and protesting but as he didn't the vast majority of Americans didn't care because neither the Afghan or Iraqi war has had any effect on them. The problems today are largely economic and you can't really protest a recession out of existence.

Also voting and protesting do make a difference; I don't know why you'd think they wouldn't (especially considering you're lamenting the passing of sixties activism...which was protesting and voting.) There hasn't really been a large protest movement in modern times but that's because there's been nothing with a significant amount of impact on everyday life. If McCain had been elected and died and there was a more conservative supreme court as a result of it (since the liberal judges seem to be dropping recently) and they outlawed abortion you'd see a pretty radical movement for it again. As far as voting goes this is still a democracy, even if it's dominated by two parties. Writing your Congressman is more is typically effective then voting though.

back then there was a thing called the Draft where ur country forced u to go to War and if u tried to not go u would be aressted or it was aganist the law 2 do that

now there is no draft so people are less motivated when it comes to war stuff

Heh, that does make a lot of sense.
