well i just finished sidewinder's David Bowie compilation, and might i say, i was impressed. my favorite part of it all was the backing band and how they came on the forefront instead of just sitting there and backing Bowie the whole time.

I'm hoping to get that Skinny Puppy comp done for you tonight...there's a ton to go through, 11 studio albums and about 5 b-sides and singles albums. I'm familiar with it all but it's still challenging to pick 15 tracks.

I didn't quite now what to expect but I knew it would be nothing less than interesting when it's from Urban. They are like a less abrasive pop version of Captain Beefheart or Zappa. Lighter on the humour but still a great sense of genre flitting whilst keeping within a Pop sensibility, in hindsight this could be one of the reasons why they never fully engaged me. I wanted a little more abrasiveness but I guess that's what I'm used to when I hear genre flitting music.
It's certainly great though and a couple of standout tracks too. It has had 2 listens and it will get a few more. Although they don't sound alike I guess if you like early Flaming Lips (as in their skewed take on pop) then you will like this. Cheers Urban.

Here you go then and I guess the only track you have heard is the perennial 'Born Slippy'? Underworld are so much more than that.
UNDERWORLD Tracklisting: 1. Momove 2. Beautiful Burnout 3. Sola Sistim 4. Best Mamgu Ever 5. Cups 6. Push Downstairs 7. Banstyle/Sappy's Curry 8. Stagger 9. Dark & Long Underworld

Hey jackhammer, have you heard the Dark & Long EP? It's as long as an album and amazing. As is the Dirty Epic/Cowgirl single, which I'm surprised can still be called a single with 3 10+ minute mixes and 5 other tracks each at least 6 minutes long. Anyway you should check out both...nice long jams.
Who's your idol?
