Maybe there should be a separate word for someone who just makes chairs, I call them craftsmen

But there's technically not and I feel like my original post was clear enough as to what I was referring to
Someone who has the ability to make chairs is also an artist in a different sense. Although the defining element of art is expression, this can also happen with someone who makes chairs. The fact that not all chairs are exactly the same proves this point.

With chairs we're talking about artisans. People with a trade who makes things by hand. Not gonna say they're not necessarily artists, but it's still a gray area.

Exactly. This is more the point I was trying to make in regards to this whol art argument. Someone that is in it for the money wouldn't have the mindset to go above and beyond to make something like this. On top of that, if we're talking about chairs, we may as well be talking about thrones, and the like.

If you don't believe something like this is considered art, you're full of ****.

Funny, what practical use could music possibly have?

Which IS the definition of art.

the expression or application of human creative skill and imagination, typically in a visual form such as painting or sculpture, producing works to be appreciated primarily for their beauty or emotional power.

We weren't talking factory though. You said an individual person.
