That's interesting--is that a requirement for you to like a cover like Under the Influence? You have to be able to tell yourself a story about it that makes logical sense to you?

No, it just looks ****ty and that's one reason why. The art is ugly, the colors are lifeless, it's not good in a good sense, it's not so bad it's good, and there is action going on with no logical narrative. I really don't see anything to latch onto other than the kinda sorta maybe cool batskull.

I like it, but it probably doesn't make much sense. It always bothered me a bit that it looks like skull is too big to exit the room it is in because the wings are so big.

My favorite Overkill album cover is probably the one from I Hear Black.
I don't think they ever had a bad cover as such.

I don't think Overkill has had a truly great album cover, and god knows how many truly dubious ones, but they might come close with their debut. No artwork pansy bull****, just them and a wall of flame. It's idiotic but strangely brilliant.

They often have a bit of a Spinal Tap vibe (which I something I like).

Again, I really like most of their covers . . . it's hard for me to pick a favorite.

Indiana Jones and the Method of Overkill is a candidate, though:

They had a little bit more money than they deserved to throw about on album covers. Lame. They definitely tried too hard.

I always thought that Led Zeppelin's covers were pretty bad.

The bands style was always pretty extreme in a way that was impossible to take 100% seriously, so I think their "we're so evil!" cover style fit the band. I mean, their mascot is a winged skull...
