Album 982
Windir - Arntor Year: 1999 Sognametal! Well, it's really just black metal with a folk twinge. This is the first proper black metal album on the list and even then it's not quite there, but don't worry there's still time. This album is timeless, and absolutely brilliant. There's a reason the band has such a dedicated fanbase with significantly larger scrobbles per listener than pretty much any band, especially one with as long songs as they do have. This album features one of the most amazing tracks in black metal history. Saknet, 10 minutes long yet it feels like 2. This is an album you just never want to finish. Listen to it at any time, and when do you put it on again, and again and again. 3 Choice Tracks: Arntor, Ein Windir, Kong Hydnes Haug, Saknet That's another 10! Which means another compilation will come soon.

Didn't notice the comp, wicked. I didn't realise thick as a brick was a piss-take until it came up in a documentary, just goes to show eh. Now that's an album you want to have on vinyl for obvious gatefold artwork/mock newspaper reasons

Album 981
Dead Kennedys - Give Me Convenience Or Give Me Death Year: 1987 Yes, it's a compilation album, but with 15/17 songs previously unreleased on Dead Kennedys albums I don't think it matters. Especially since a few compilations somehow made it onto the original list. Containing singles, B-sides and live recordings this is by far the most eclectic Dead Kennedys release, and it's by far the best. Starting off with the brilliant Police Truck it just gets better, with my favourite Dead Kennedys track Too Drunk To Fuck up next. There's a lot of social commentary (Night of the Living Rednecks) as well as general disdain for the music industry (Pull My Strings) and the general extreme energy that make Dead Kennedys the ultimate American punk band. This is one to just listen to, soak it up, albums as good as this don't come by often, even if Fresh Fruit For Rotting Vegetables and Plastic Surgery Disasters do get very close. 3 Choice Tracks: Too Drunk To Fuck, Pull My Strings, Kinky Sex (Makes the World Go 'Round)

Album 980
Hawkwind - Warrior on the Edge of Time Year: 1975 Hawkwind almost venture into prog on this superb and satisfying release. The fact that this band has such mass appeal yet still never really made it truly "big" astounds me. There's just so much greatness in this and a lot of their albums. Sure Lemmy can't really play bass on their albums and they've had a revolving door policy regarding band members, but they've always managed to constantly put out great music for a long time now. Anyways, this is their proggies release although it never quite gets there, staying somewhat firmly in their space rock roots. There is a lot here to process in just a few listens so it's a definite grower, although you might be amazed immediately. Regardless, this is one to listen to if you just want to chill out and forget your troubles. 3 Choice Tracks: Assault & Battery Part I, Magnu, Spiral Galaxy 28948

I like it.
Album 979 Donovan - Mellow Yellow Year: 1967 Yes, with a title song about a vibrator and nine other songs that just pleasantly meander without really going anywhere you have to ask, why did this make the list? Well, it's firstly Donovan's most consitent effort, and it's also quite brilliant. It's amazing that someone can make music with such lovely soft, mellow soundscapes and yet only really be acclaimed by the hipsters of the world. Where is the pop appreciation? This is more than just a pleasant experience, it is a really solid album that makes a lot of good points, and it is a musical experience that you really would be better off having heard. Listen to it while toking up or just wanting to mellow out. 3 Choice Tracks: Mellow Yellow, Bleak City Woman, Hampstead Incident

Very nice thread, Comus. Some stuff I already like and some stuff I'll need to check out. You inspired me to bring Camel's Moonmadness to work today.
