Default Legal Free Music Recommendations

So I'm writing an article and I need to find some artists that have released some of their music for free, similar to what Radiohead did last year. It needs to be legal. However, it definitely does not have to be a well known artist, indie and small groups are great as well. For example, there is a band called The Damnwells that released their latest album for free download on their website, a band that reminds me of The Fray and Death Cab.

I already know about websights like datpiff where I can download free mixtapes for rap, but if you know of any rap artists that released their albums for free that'd be appreciated as well.

So now that you know what I'm looking for, do you know of and recommend any artists that have legal free music on the web, and perhaps provide a link to it. It'd be really appreciated for my article, as well as be something cool for all of the forum members to share. Thanks
