i don't see what the problem is with it, definitely gives noobs an introduction to what music we like here. i'm up for anything that gets people to discuss music, really.

I have no doubt that this Hall of Fame thing will (if not already) develop into something very useful as time goes on. |

I think all the music I listen(or perhaps more appropriately like- although there is some stuff where I dont like but can still appreciate it for what it is) to is good in its own right & thats how I think that ,due to the original concept of these hall of fame things, they are unecessary. The way I see 'the best in the world' statement is that it is based up limited experience of music. I find it impossible to actually truthfully say that this band or this artist is 'the best in the world' as I havent heard every single artist to compare against. You never know when youre gonna find a new great band and anything can happen with new artists and bands coming out (not so much the mainstream ones). Quote:

I mean when you hear the term 'big names' do you really think they aint gonna get in? |

You do realise this thread isn't saying these artists are the best in the world?
It is simply saying which artists are Music Banters FAVOURITES... There is a difference. Quote:

Also 'Music Banter' isnt exactly a person in itself and the posters on here all each have their individual opinions which should be considered rather than doing daft polls based on 'popular opinion. Sorry but I just dont agree with this thread. |

Everyone has the chance to voice their opinion in the threads, and then they vote... It isn't based on popular opinion because there is no reason to base it on an opinion other than your own. Otherwise bands such as Led Zep, The Beach Boys, The Smiths would have easily been inducted into the HOF, yet they weren't. |

It is early days with it and I've not managed to get a nomination put up yet myself, but Im sure I wont be alone in nominating an act who are obscure to many in the outside world and yet championed on this place, or even perhaps not thought of as anything at all yet. The list is below just incase you've not seen it, but I dont think of King Crimson, Public Enemy or Tom Waits as massive names, but I do think they fit in with the opening lines explaining what this process is all about. You vote in the poll and then in here based on your opinion. Stop being a smart arse for the sake of it Of course, it is much much easier to complain about things you don't like than contribute positively to threads about things you do love without putting down other music . |

Just because there are a load of Prog Rockers on here is the only reason the likes of 'King Crimson' got in ('Yes' nearly...). The only 'Hall Of Fame' (although I hate the term) I would be interested in would be one that embraces more styles of music other than just Rock and its subgenres. I have already previously mentioned other genres such as Jazz, Electronic,Soul,Funk, even Avant Garde stuff, which sadly went unnoticed. |
