Frank Zappa
No. Not doubting his influence, i just really dislike his music. The Clash Yes, one of the most innovative, experimental punk bands to emerge from the first wave. Their social relevance cannot be ignored either Bob Dylan You have to really, has made some of the greatest albums ever. Lyrically peerless. Pink Floyd Again, constantly pushing musical boundaries and their sheer audacity on some albums warrants their place. Big Black No, i love this band, but hall of fame? There were other bands more important to noise rock. Tom Waits Yes, brilliant man. The Smiths Yes, some of the most important british albums of the last 30 years. Chuck Berry Abstain. |

Although i think with some of the nominations coming up it'll blow away your stereotype of all HOF's being just big names. |

'Nominations', Perhaps, I think that the hall of fame shouldnt just be 'Rock n' Roll', I think it should embrace all other genres especially Jazz & also Soul,Funk,Metal,Electronic- even Avant Garde stuff (IMO). I try not to stereotype things but all the hall of fames Ive ever seen are so predictable- Bob Dylan, The Clash, Elvis Presley, blah blah blah. Now its no that i dont like these bands/artists, its just I think 'Hall Of Fame' is very narrow minded and to me it is unecessary as I dont need confirmation of what music I think is excellent. |

How many styles have you embraced by having 'Wu-Tang Clan' (whom I dont personally like) & 'Captain Beefheart' (whom I have a few of his albums- 'Safe As Milk' & 'The Spotlight Kid/Clear Spot' but find him a bit difficult to get into (personally prefer Frank Zappa). So 'rap' & 'weird ass 60s rock'. Wow... |

It's about classifying MB's sacred cows, not the world's. Which artists are universally liked or close to it by the MB community. The real problem is that not enough people are willing to try out these artists and instantly vote no or abstain, when in fact they may quite like them. You want someone different to get a chance? You nominate them... |
