Bands/Artists with only 1 album...

Name one band/artist that only made one album that should still be around.

Mark Hollis - S/T

Main guy behind Talk Talk. Nearly ten years in gestation. Gloomy and introspective.

IN MY MIND ;______;

But seriously:

http://www.progarchives.com/progress...4231792007.jpg

The world desperately needs more heavy prog from the 70's.

Husky McDump 04-07-2009 01:19 PM

Op Ivy should be as large as possible. =D

Absolutely amazing album.

What about Small Faces and Small Faces?

^ Great album that. Not quite up there with Talk Talk's last two albums, but I'd love it if he was still making noise today.

My shout, on the other hand, goes to Beefheart and Zappa's Bongo Fury (I think this counts anyway);

But then again I did mention Boston xD

Both still tour I think.......

Temple Of The Dog
Blind Faith
Black Star
The Sex Pistols (technically had one "studio" album)

Derek and the Dominos...just one album that didn't sold good enough for them to make another one, Carl Radle died from cancer, Jim Gordon went crazy and Duane Allman just didn't made that curve...in my opinion the best album ever recorded.

OhhhKevin 04-07-2009 07:02 PM

Mad Season's lead singer kinda sounds like Layne Staley. If you don't know who he is, he's like old lead singer from Alice In Chains, who died from a heroine overdose.

Lovage

I've heard rumors that they're thinking about doing a follow up, but no word on if Jennifer Charles will return. The chemistry between hers and Mike Pattons' voice just really did something for me.

Thats because it IS Layne Staley. :)

Layne Staley (Alice in Chains) and Mark Lanegan (Screaming Trees) on vocals
Mike McCready (one of Pearl Jams members) on guitar
John Baker Saunders on bass (he's been in lots of stuff)
Barrett Martin on drums

Yeah Madseason had a sick lineup, Mark Lanegan is one of my favorite vocalists, Layne Staley is great as well. Not to mention McCready on guitar, he's so versatile. They really had a ton of potential, I think if they would have done another couple albums, they could have made some really awesome music.

I have seen this name on your last fm a few times. Any good?

Both of these groups could have been amazing had they done more than one album.

That Island album art is pure sex, I may need to give it a try based solely on that fact.

It's H.R Giger who is definitely awesome.

He's the guy that did the artwork that inspired the xenomorphs in the Alien franchise right?

SATCHMO 04-08-2009 07:01 PM

He also did the original Dead Kennedys Frankenchrist cover art which was almost immediately banned. I wonder why: (mods you might wanna' delete this ASAP)

lucifer_sam 04-08-2009 07:40 PM

doesn't look any worse than any of Nurse With Wound covers.

jackhammer 04-08-2009 07:42 PM

No. It's art ;)

H.R Giger is the schizz though.

I don't want them around now but a 2nd or 3rd album back then would have been good.

I loved this band :(

the ultimate:

even if i like John Lydon's other material better you can't deny the widespread influence this had on, well, music in general.

Molecules 04-09-2009 07:24 AM

good call on the Germs, No God is the anthem!
re dolly mixture - i'd check them out on youchoob first and if you don't hate them i'll link you up

More like a compilation but whatever, still probably the best album's i've pinched of these here boards. Like the New York Dolls' debut if it had lived up to the promise of it's classics Jet Boy, Personality Crisis etc.
