Default Mick Harvey

Is anyone here a fan of Mick Harvey? He did work with Nick Cave as a member of The Bad Seeds as well as work with another band, Crime & The City Solution, and I think he was also worked with Polly Jean Harvey on a few things as well (though I'm not sure what). Has anyone here given a listen to any of his solo albums? I did a search and nothing came-up, so I was wondering, before I just crack into them myself (eventually), if anyone here has given them a try and what they thought?

His solo debut, Intoxicated Man is a great album and probably the one you should be looking to get. It's tagged as post-punk, but that doesn't really tell the whole story. It sounds a little bit like Nick Cave's Your Funeral, My Trial and bits of Tender Prey - it's got that very dark, gothic vibe about it. Definitely worth checking out. If you need help with finding a link, just let me know.

T'is a shame that he has moved on from the Seeds, but this just makes me more excited about his potential solo work... Would definitely be an interesting character in terms of possible genre variation.

I agree with Bulldog, Intoxicated Man is a beastly album that needs to be checked out.

I heard a bit of inside news on his departure. The word is that he and Ellis were not the best of friends.

Hmm, that sucks...

Harvey has been Cave's 'Partner in crime' for a while now, but recently Ellis has sort of taken over in that regard... Not to say Harvey hasn't been important recently.

I am just happy that I saw Harvey in the band before he left... And of course played pool with The Seeds (Minus Cave) After the DLD gig in Adelaide, the Crown and Anchor, t'was a great night...

I'm a huge fan of the guy's work.

I still haven't heard his solo album though.

Awesome, thanks everyone. Especially Bulldog- I appreciate the heads-up. I shouldn't have any trouble getting the album myself... eventually (the list is long), but I'll for sure give that album a listen once I get a hold of it.

Good lad As I say, let me know whenever you need a link - so long as my web connection's not having an off-day I should be able to get it online easily enough.
