In retrospect this album doesn't seem like a big deal but at the time of its release it caused a lot of people, including me to do a double take and say "wha.....arent these the fight for your right to party guys" Not only was the album itself awesome, but three guys that we'd associated with novelty white rap were breaking out their instruments and laying down some of the best retro-soul/acid jazz iv'e ever heard completely interlaced with fantastic hip-hop. Such an underrated album.

Yes and yes.
In Sounds from Way Out is more or less their "Greatest instrumental hits" album. for some reason something gets lost with the songs outside of the context of their respective albums. It's great music though and if you just lie to yourself and say your listening toan acid jazz comp it works. I ****ing Shot That was good but it did look like it was shot w/ a bunch of handycams, which it was. lol |

Modest Mouse - Lonesome Crowded West
Against Me - As the Eternal Cowboy P.O.S. - Ipecac Neat These threee albums were a god-send. Around the time that I was introduced to these albums I was going through a metal only phase (yeah yeah i know \m/ ). At first, I HATED Against Me!, but they grew on me and turned out to be one of my favorite bands up until their most recent release. P.O.S. was my introduction to the unbelievable talent in the hip-hop world that I had failed to see before. And as for Modest Mouse, this album really changed the way I personally look at writing music, lyrics and my world view. Issac Brock was goolishly captivating on this album. -Ems-
