Since when has that ever made music bad? I wouldn't say the lyrics to most rock n roll songs are particularly high quality.

He had more reasons than just "their lyrics are all awful" you know and lyrical quality is something to consider when looking at the positive/negative attributes of a band.

And the topic of the thread is, from what I gathered, bands YOU hate that others love, ... not whether the band is good / bad... I guess all I was trying to do was point out why I I personally can't stand Kiss. I take your counter point Boo Boo that lyrics do not alwqays maketh the song, but in the case it adds to a whole package of dislikes I have with Kiss...

Not the least my stepson's Dads obsession with them to the point of corniness... and I don't really even harbor any bad feelings towards the guy anymore... just his musical taste.... :-)

It doesn't automatically make a band good or bad though.

I doubt most KISS fans consider them brilliant lyricists, that's not why they like them.

For the record, I generally can't stand KISS. But I doubt that would change even if their lyrics were Bob Dylan quality.

I don't necessarily hate them, but I've never been able to get into The Mountain Goats.

I am only a passing Mountain Goats fan... I absolutely adored The Sunset Tree for its confronting subject matter and tthe pure compelling emotions it evoked... tgheir other stuff has been a bit hit and miss with me...
