I'll see what I can do

I'll also get my review up as soon as possible too. Been slightly busier today than I first imagined...

Ah, but what I have and he doesn't is the third volume of that collection May seem a bit much, but I'll get it your way anyway - just listen to it over a bottle of red sometime eh.

You have rendered me, very much happy.

Well, that's nice to know There's a fourth one too which I don't actually have yet. Should I manage to find it by some sheer miracle I'll pass it along.

I'm off to uni in approximately 10 seconds, so I'll get the link for you (and UB) when I've got a bit more time to myself later.

From the vaults of Mr. Unchained Ballad...

The Psychedelic Scene

I'm neither here nor there with psychedelia to be perfectly honest. More because I don't really dig around that era of music as habitually as I do with others than anything else, as I do love me some Ogden's Nut Gone Flake, 13th Foor Elevators and so on. The Nuggets compilations are easily as popular as they deserve to be but, apart from those, I hadn't really had another good psychedelic compilation to call my own, so I was pretty enthusiastic when this one was offered up to me (even if it did take me this long to review it).

It also helped that, Small Faces and Moody Blues aside, there were no names I recognised among the tracklisting, so I was all over this idea. As I say I'm not exactly a huge fan of psychedelia, so a few of the tracks didn't really grab me as such, but there were plenty of perfectly trippy, spaced-out and sunny numbers to make up for it. On the whole, I prefer my psychedelia when it sounds a bit like the Amboy Dukes' version of Baby Please Don't Go, ie when it has a real kick to it, be it in the shape of the rhythm, organ, piano or whatever. The Felius Andromeda and Societie tracks probably made the best impression of the lot of them on me then, and the Virgin Sleep song is now officially one of my favourite songs.

That's not to say there isn't any other merit to this album - there is. Those were the tunes I remember the most though, and I'm sure more will emerge with repeated listens (and the temptation's there, which is another reason I liked this album). So, yeah, thanks for this Mr. Ballad sir
