OK then Terrible Lizard and trace87 are partners for this week as well.
I made a post a few weeks ago saying that I was going to be gone last week and I thought crash_override was taking over but that didn't seem to come to, but I'm not going to hold it against him, This is still very much alive. |

I got this album from LoathsomePete
The Shadow out of Tim by The Darkest of the Hillside Thickets It's a concept album made as an adaptation of The Shadow Out of Time by H. P. Lovecraft, so I had to read the novella first [which is great btw]. So about the album: The Good: Although I'm not that into Punk, I've got to say I really liked the album, and one of the few albums that didn't bore in their first listen. It's a good album, very melodic at times, and rough at others, and enjoyable all in all. My favorite track was: Chapter VII: A "need to know" Basis. And with the "Earthquake" theme, that album has one of the most interesting album openings and closing tracks. The Bad: The Lyrics are very interesting, Lovecraft's work is definitely there. But for an adaptation of a story, this album lacks structure. I didn't feel at all the progression of the story, neither did I feel evolution between chapters. The adaptation stayed in the lyrics and not at all in the tune. so I'll give that album a 7/10, really good album, not as good concept album.

This will continue in the next week, however after some talk with Rezz we've decided that to make things interesting there's going to be a theme issued each week. The theme doesn't have to encompass every song on the album, but it definitely must be present on a few songs.

I just remembered this thread existed and was gonna see what was goin down, maybe join in for the next round but i'm not too sure about the above idea. Isn't what makes this thread work that the album you get given could be absolutely anything? And wouldnt putting limitations on peoples submissions kind of ruin that?
I'll keep an open mind though and see how it pans out. I might be surprised. |
