From Trace87...
Deerhunter - Microcastle Shoegaze isn't exactly something I listen to a lot of/have a lot of patience for, so of the albums I was offered I asked for Microcastle here, just because I've seen a fairly active thread about it in the New Releases forum and raved elsewhere as well, so I thought I'd give it a go. Not bad at all, and certainly something I can see myself getting back to. On the livelier tracks like Nothing Ever Happened there are some interesting juxtapositions between catatonic kinds of rhythms and the heavy distortions and feedback on the guitars that dominate the longer instrumental passages, making for some good results to say the least. The album shined best for me with the slower, quieter trio at the centre of the tracklisting - the title track, Calvary Scars and Green Jacket. Overall though it's a solid unit of work. So, yeah, thanks Trace. |

You sent me The Standard - Swimmer You prefaced the album saying that you didnt really like most "indie" music. I can see why. I really couldn't find one redeeming quality about this album. Stereotypical "indie", with the added bonus of drowsiness! The vocalist drives me crazy too. Maybe recommend stuff from genres you are familiar with in the future. Im sorry but this must be done. 0/10
