Yeah, that's the album art.
Mama Loi, Papa Loi is a favorite of mine as well. Personally I think that the muffled production simply adds to the albums mood, especially in Dambala.
Anyways, I'm glad I was able to give you something outside your norm.

Cocoon - All My Friends Died In a Plane Crash

So, Fasho sent me the debut from the French indie/folk duo Cocoon. I've given it a couple of listens and must say it's actually quite good. Usually this kind of laid-back, paired-down production style isn't really my thing, but it's certainly lyrically and musically interesting enough to keep my attention throughout. They remind me a little of the Turn Brakes back when they were actually any good.

It's a bit early to pick out highlights, but overall a very enjoyable album. Thanks Fasho

Pobodys_Nerfect sent me Bjørn Berge's I'm the Antipop.



It is a collection of cover songs performed on a 12-string guitar. There is some percussion involved too and it may be that Bjørn Berge performed everything on the album, I'm not sure. This is not a parody or fun album, it has a quite serious tone. Bjørn Berge's voice is very deep and powerful. The covers range from Rage Against the Machine, Morphine, Led Zeppelin and Red Hot Chili Peppers. Many I did not recognize and don't know who originally performed them. This is a good thing, because one it means that Bjørn Berge really puts his own style into the songs. I hardly recognized the RATM cover. The only real clue to the identity of any of the songs is in the lyrics, and I'm not too much of a lyric person. Some of the other covers like Led Zeppelin's "Heartbreaker" and RHCP's "Suck My Kiss" were more obvious to me, but only because of the lyrics.

That said, the songs I enjoyed the most were the ones I didn't recognize, because at that point it just sounds like original material, and he has a nice style. A few times the sound reminded me of Everlast and the few songs I've heard from Whitey Ford Sings the Blues, but much more intricate in the guitar work and faster, less melodic, more aggressive in a way. I don't think I really enjoyed the RHCP cover "Suck My Kiss" for some reason. I like the original song and the cover was done in Bjørn's style so it's not that there was anything wrong with it. I think it's just that I prefer to hear songs I've never heard before, especially for a genre out of my comfort zone.

This was an enjoyable listen and the guy is definitely very talented. However I don't see this as something I'll come back to often. I would recommend people check it out if they are into bluesy acoustic rock for sure, and I wouldn't mind having a song come up on shuffle once in a while.

Alright man im really interested in this album but cant seem to find it a torrent for it. Do you happen to have a link at all?

Heres an album I recentley bought:



I had been into Pat Metheny for a wee while beforehand & had loads of his albums beforehand so when I heard this was coming out I had to get it right away.
The album is basically just Pat Metheny sitting down one night for however long and improvising on an acoustic and a baritone guitar. It wasnt even intended for release he was just chilling one night in his house and ended up making a very downbeat acoustic based album with a new lower sound that he hadnt explored before in any of his previous works.
It is very relaxing music to listen to and the first time I ever listened to it was a quiet rainy Monday night at work & I personally think all jazz should be listened to at night. Sometimes the music can be quite rythmically upbeat but mostly is very quiet and good for chilling out to. I have never heard a better album to chill out to than this one.

So if you're interested to find some really relaxing music to listen to when you're doing f*ck all on a Sunday night this is the album for you.

I got Streetcore by Joe Strummer & The Mescaleros from Alfred. I really like The Clash, so I was pretty interested in hearing this. It was interesting to hear Joe Strummer play this kind of music, I was expecting something similar to The Clash. There's a lot of variety in the style's of music played. I really liked it, and i will definitely give it repeated listens. I'd give it a 8/10. On a side note, sorry for my poor reviewing skills, I am a complete noob at reviewing and talking about music.

I got Hear Nothing, See Nothing, Say Nothing by Discharge from Terrible Lizard.



Politically charged lyrics, gritty production, fighting riffs... this album certainly is very punk-y. Most of the tracks were less than 2 minutes, as to be expected. I liked the incorporation of soundclips at a part of the album. Technically I can't say there's anything about this album I don't like, but it didn't do much for me. I'm more of a fan of pseudo-punk or hardcore groups, meself. 6.5/10
