King Geedorah—Take Me To Your Leader FaSho sent me this DOOM side project a couple days ago. It took me a little while to post my reaction here because I wanted to give it a few spins before I posted anything about it. At first listen I have to admit I wasn't all that excited by it. I mean, I didn't dislike it or anything but it just seemed like a typical DOOM project that wasn't very distinct from a lot of his other stuff. I'm on my fourth or fifth listen now though and I have to say the album has really grown on me. I had planned on just giving it two or three spins before I wrote anything about it so the fact that I've gone beyond that says to me that this album is probably going to keep growing on me. My favorite tracks are "Krazy World", "The Final Hour" and "The Fine Print", which has just about the best beat of any DOOM song I can think of. Good stuff FaSho! |

Universal Totem Orchestra - Rituale Alieno I was expecting something proggy, and something proggy is exactly what I got. With the exception of a bit of 10cc and Yes it's a genre I know absolutely nothing about. It is a genre I at least appreciate though, so it's always good to hear some, especially the more modern stuff such as this slice of Italian prog. I was reading some Poe while listening to this, so the mazy, neo-classical song structures seemed to fit somehow. Goes without saying that the musicianship behind it is incredible too. That said though, I wouldn't call it a truly brilliant album but, then again, I can see this one growing on me with a few more listens. Anyway, cheers TL |

Got it from my boy Gunnels. The album was nice, two tracks wouldn't work though. But anyway, this is Flobots' album with their hit Handlebars on it. It's a very short album (7 tracks with the two I didn't get to work) but that makes it a collection of good songs herre. The beats are good, their rhymes are legit, an there's nothing I can really complain about. I'll be giving it some more spiinnnnns but I dug the album.
