There's bags of time before I'm gonna start trying to round people up to take part in the next trade anyway, so if a lot of folk don't really wanna do this, I'm down with that. |

All the comps I got can work in some way. It's good for me

Actually, I too find it a nice idea, I just lack the knowledge to decently follow through. And for this I apologise. |

Nah. It's something I've been meaning to get for a long time, and that I've read a lot about, but I never actually get round to getting hold of it.

And with that said, am I to take it no-one has any objections to the compilation theme? |

Bulldog was kind enough to send me the album to the sound track Leonard Cohen: I'm Your Man which is something every LC fan needs to have in their library. Unfortunately for me I was never a big Leonard Cohen fan so the songs were a little lost on me, but they were still enjoyable to a degree. All of the artists did a great job at paying their tribute to Leonard Cohen and do so in a dignifying way where the song actually feels like their own rather than a crappy cover you'd expect to hear on a street corner from a scraggly busker. I was actually quite surprised to see The Handsome Family (one of my Gothic Country bands) on the album, doing a very good cover of "Famous Blue Raincoat" which I actually enjoy more than LC's version. However the best song on the album is Nick Cave's rendition of "I'm Your Man" which has a very nice drunken swagger to it and again, had me enjoying it more than the original. Overall the album was enjoyable enough to a degree for me, but I think the impact of it as a whole was lost on me because of my indifference to Leonard Cohen as a musician. I know that is kind of a heresay because of the impact he has had on music in general, but some of the older artists just don't do it for me. If you're a fan then you definitely need to pick it up, but otherwise I wouldn't be surprised if the album didn't do much for you. I thank you for the album Bulldog, I think I'll steal a few select tracks and I hope you enjoyed the album I sent you. |

Yeah, I thought I was going out on a limb sending you that, seeing as I didn't know if you were a fan or not. Rufus Wainwright's version of Chelsea Hotel and I'm Your Man and Suzanne by Nick Cave are probably my personal picks of the litter, if not some of my favourite covers of all time. Good to hear you pretty much enjoyed it anyway.
I'm just listening to the album you sent me now. I'm gonna give it two end-to-end listens before reviewing it though, so I'll post it tomorrow. Also, here's who's probably up for the next trade so far; +81 Bulldog Crash_Override Duga James44754 NumberNineDream UnchainedBallad Anyone else want in? The theme for this next swap, in case you didn't already know, is officially-released compilations, be they best ofs/single collections, various artist compilations or whatever. It'd be cool to get at least 4 more people on the idea - I imagine we'll be starting the trade sometime next week. |

I don't have much in the way of compilations, but I have a couple that might suffice. Sign me up.
I've gotta give Story's album another listen, but I'll have that review up in the next couple days or so.
