Bear in mind the album doesn't exactly have to be lyrically uplifting or whatever. It can be one of those weird ones which has a pretty grim lyrical theme but gives off a strangely upbeat vibe musically.

Alternately, if anyone else has any ideas, you're welcome to make them known!

I like this theme idea!

Put me in again, too

Okay, so Bulldog sent me this...

3 in the Morning, by The Infidels

The Infidels are an Australian band who I had often heard of, but never actually listened to... in fact I think most of their stuff is hard to come by so I was pretty excited when I received this!

I liked this album, and although I had never heard it before it sounded really familiar and had a really homely feel about it. Listening to it I was greatly reminded of bands like The Church and Crowded House... which I shouldn't really be surprised by as The Infidels is a side-project of Marty Willson-Piper of The Church, if I'm not wrong? Anyway, it's a great album... full of that great congenial Australian sound that I love.

The highlight of this album for me however would definitely be the cover of 'Boys Don't Cry.' Amazing! Was a very relaxed, fluid version of the song with lovely female vocals filling in for the the harmonies. Definitely not what I was expecting, and I'm pretty critical when it comes to covers, but I love it.

Thanks Bulldog, great pick!

Top stuff

Here's who we've got so far...

Bulldog
NumberNineDream
Rickenbacker
Anteater
Lateralus

Duga

Anyone else? If you want in, don't forget this one's theme; upbeat albums - albums with an uplifting, chirpy kinda vibe.

I'll get at least one of my reviews done if I'm not out tonight. I probably will be though, so expect something from me by Sunday at the latest.

I'm out for this round as I'll be on a pretty slow computer for a while and also doing other stuff. I'll probably be back and posting as usual within the next week or two if all goes well. Sorry this is so late.

Anyway, I was sent Yo La Tengo's album I Can Hear The Heart Beating As One. Last time I listened to this album was about a week ago in the car with my girlfriend, and I have to say, it was great driving music. I remember the album being pretty moody, but I like that in some albums- this one included. Honestly it was just what I was looking for, I had just spun The Cowboy Junkies debut in my car and was looking for music that put me in a mood kind of like that, and despite how different those two bands are it did and I thoroughly enjoyed it. Thank you Duga for introducing me to this band, I'll definitely be tracking down more stuff by them. After this I hope you end-up being one of those members that sticks around for a while.
