My Music Poll
I'm new to the forum, so bear with me, but my coworkers and I at my company have decided to compete with Rolling Stone magazine, in a sense, and you aid is required in our achieving this
I just bought Rolling Stone's 500 Greatest Songs of All Time issue. I looked at the list, and, beyond the top eight or so, I couldn't believe it. "Dancing Queen" by Abba but no "American Pie" by Don McLean? "Loser" by Beck is ahead of "Miss You" by The Rolling Stones? And no Dire Straits any where? I was somewhat disappointed to say the least. Therefore, me and my fellow employees (bums) at my quasi-existent company, Ostromite Inc., have decided to compile our own list. This will test two things: one, to see if people out there have good taste in music, and two, to see if the process of voting on a list like this that is so opinion based instead of having just a few people do it is what made it so crappy in the first place. If you want to vote on it, e-mail me (ostromite@rochester.rr.com) a list of your top 50 favorite songs, in order, along with your name and what qualifications you have. Qualifications need not be that you are a musician or work in a record store or anything, just enough of a description of your love of music to prove to us that you have heard a wide variety of music and know what you're talking about (this is to prevent people who've heard nothing but what's on MTV and the pop charts their whole lives from voting). Remember, if this all sounds stupid, arrogant, and pointless, that's because it is. It was my idea, but it was THEIR idea to poll y'all on the Internet. So, please, don't send me any viruses. |
