Where is your favorite setting to perform?
As the title states, what setting do you enjoy playing in the most. I will include a poll to make life easier, but if you chose describe why you chose what you did. :thumb:
Note* If you haven't played all of the settings (which most of us probably haven't), or never played a show at all, just pick the one you think would be the best. --------------- Personally my favorite is playing an outside venue, or hell even a little stage in the middle of a field on a beautiful summer night. Not to hot, everyone's happy, and makes the music even better. I have not performed at any big shows or enormous venues, but I have a feeling it would lose some of the personality. (not that it wouldn't be fun) |
My only experiances are outside venues and schools gyms. I prefer the outside venue. When we played that it was friggin' one o'clock in the morning at a cancer walk-a-thon thing. Ours was the only performance that people actually came up to the stage to pay attention to, but it was probably more due to the fact that we were also the youngest act there, lol.

my favourite is the jam room, playing for the people on the couch.
bars can be fun or a giant hassle. being in a relatively small town if we ever play a bar the crowd is 95% personal acquaintances of my drummer's. so it becomes more of a public private party. then again we're not a typical band so it's better that we stack the crowd with friends haha |

everyone gets to be a part of everything in that setting hehe

I had the opportunity to play a gig once, and did rehearse some stuff, but I backed out in the end (owing to work and my inherent sense of stagefright). Had I actually played, it would've been in some small indoor venue (hence the vote). Would've suited me fine - I prefer the intimate atmosphere of bars, cafes and that.

I am not a fan of large venues at all because I have a bit of a problem with stagefright :shycouch:. But I do play small piano recitals regularly and I enjoy those a lot because I really like the more personal relationship you have with your audience. I also play with a friend's band and we've only played indoor and outdoor small venues. So really anything that has a smaller crowd is good for me.

Small venue that's is the best.
That way you can toss blood and feces on the crowd like GWAR.:band: |
I like an inside venue, have played some reasonably large places but nothing huge. Outside, my experiences have been pretty bad, horrible weather and audiences filled with olds.
The atmosphere and intimacy of a sweaty dive is great if it has a decent stage and soundsystem. |
outside on a warm summer night barbecue jamming with friends and no audience but the night sky
or wherever there's free beer |
