I've been listening to some Norwegian black metal for the first time in forever, and while I'm not sure that I'll ever really be a huge fan, I'm starting to be won over by Emperor's first album.

Because much of it just sounds like unlistenable noise. The endless slew of Darkthrone ripoffs doesn't help.

My fav black metal comes from the eighties...

The band that basically invented black metal.




And the band that Mayhem stole their sound from.
