The Fragile was just ok to me when it first came out, I wasn't ready for such a release from him. But over time, it's grown on me. Good background music to work to.

The Fragile is one of my top 3 albums of all time, it really changed the way I listen to music. Especially the second disk- so much experimental awesomeness on one cd, but still reasonably accessible. Admittedly I now know it's not that experimental, but at the time it blew my mind.

Funeral made me want to stab my ears. This album made me enjoy them again.

You are the ONLY person I've ever heard insult Funeral. That's a bold statement, sir

Funeral was given to me as a gift in 2006 and I thought it was ok, even liked it to an extent. But then I started a new job where we shuffled music through an office-wide system and I heard many of the songs pretty frequently, mixed in with other stuff. They just sounded soooooooo whiny every time they came on, it made me want to blow my brains out. I didn't bother with Neon Bible since I wasn't interested in the band, but then The Suburbs caught my attention when I learned it was written about the particular suburb of Houston that I used to live in, and spent the second half of my teens in. And to my surprise, great album and not nearly as whiny as Funeral. :thumb: I've since downloaded and listened to Neon Bible but only once or twice, hasn't quite grabbed me yet but I also didn't find it painful.

It might have sounded whiny because the band as a whole lost like nine family members during the recording process. That'll make anybody sound whiny.

Right now listening to this... Probably my favorite song of theirs.

Systematic Chaos is one of my favorite DT albums.

Had they not of unfortunately lost so many family members, the album would've probably had a somewhat happy tone. So it's a good thing they lost family members, in return we get a masterpiece of a record

Edit: that's an awful thing to say though
