I've been listening to an astounding amount of jazz the last few days, which is saying something for me, because I already listen to quite a bit. Free, traditional, big band, bebop, post-bop, fusion... it's been a jazzapalooza. Right now I'm listening to Stan Getz and the Oscar Peterson Trio... I have to say, I've always loved the way that Oscar hums and mumbles along with literally every single one of his solos! Always makes me laugh.

There are plenty of other great albums and great artists, but this is a good place to start. I hope you aren't wanting any 80's stuff, because in general, I abhor jazz fusion from the 80's... if you are wanting anything from the 80's, go to Anteater, the guy is crazy about that crap. :p: |

I'm also trying to get into Jazz, after someone here recommended BBNG2 in another thread (or was it this thread? Not sure; they posted Limit To Your Love), which I thought was fantastic. Yesterday I tried Bitches Brew, but I've since been told that that may not be the best starting place, so I'm trying the (apparently) more accessible In A Silent Way.

I've become moderately obsessed with Suffocation. Effigy of the Forgotten is just one of the most intense death metal albums I've ever heard, and Frank Mullen doesn't even sound human.

It's a grower of an album, but it's growing on me hard |
