From the 'doo-wop' winks to the hand clap crushes, Blondie's debut is an excellent look over the shoulder to great 50's era rock n roll while perfectly placed in its own nest - a punk setting sandwich somewhere between Richard Hell and Patti Smith. One of my favorite records...an absolute gem. Got hip to these guys from a Chicago podcast. Just ripped and am now listening...so far I hear a J&MC (Psychocandy), MBV sorta thing going on... If you're gonna rip a band off, you could do worse than MBV or old J&MC... |
