Damien Rice - I Remember - YouTube

This live version's just so much better than the recorded one. Beautiful beginning but I prefer after 3 mins... just... brilliant!

Lol, if you read the instructions, you'd know you can't put the song and the artist alone. It goes against the rules

Icicle Works - Small Price of a Bicycle

The Icicle Works were among my favorite 80's bands, and I was listening to almost everything I can get, including a wonderful 12" of Birds Fly (Wisper to a Scream) tha thad some killer B Sides which was bought in a discount bin. Late 1984 rolled around, and I heard the song in the featured video.

By Summer, 85, I got the import to the album I was waiting for, but a little later on I was wondering when The US was going to get the release. The debut went Top 40, but Arista (possibly getting all hype engines ready with Whitney) skipped out on Album 2, although only recently I found out that most of the world also had to get it as a UK Import. Small Price of a Bicycle was possibly the first realisation that my post-High School years were showed me to be late for the 80' Music Party once I finally was allowed to drive, but also interesting, kind of like a Garage Punk fan still getting releases in '68 and '69 long after the times changed, at least through 85-6. Thankfully, most of my favorites were of good standing musically, and being a fan of The Byrds and Buffalo Springfield, the type of sound that influenced a lot of what I was hearing new then, the Icicle Works' second album proved to be something I can almost file along with the classics...almost, of course.

The song here is possibly my favorite Works anthem. The rest of the album is mainly excellent.

Wanted to share this as it was another classic '85 memory. I bought the album Night of 1,000 Candles at a store now seriously long gone in Toledo which had a lot of interesting Import finds and some good Indie releases where some of the local Punk scene bought albums at. I liked it quite a bit, and Memories of a friend getting passionatly into this album will remain with me. In a way, music like this made me want to play my acoustic even more. Sadly, the album is no longer with me, but the songs are.

Although I was already into great music, this was the time when I broke away from the Pop of my day (for the most part) and ventured into other areas.
