From the great Raw and Alive album, this was the song chosen as the single. Killer Garage Punk! This was mentioned in Billboard's singles reviews for it's Aug. 10, 1968 issue. Did not chart or Bubble Under in The US. This was the same fate to two other great records mentioned that week - The Kinks' "Days" (A UK hit) and The Blues Magoos' version of The Move's "I Can Hear the Grass Grow." This was possibly an attempt to save an album that possibly did very little outside of California (hell, maybe only just LA), as the album was mentioned in BB's June 1'st, 1968 issue. Epic song from the (I think) second Heep album. I'm not that much of a fan of this band, but I got a copy of this in the Used Dollar Bin and decided "Why not?" The rest of it's alright, but this song seriously is something that would have fitted right in with an Early 70's Hammer "Satanic Rites of Dracula" style flick with all of the Horns and Organ going on, which makes it my pick. |
