I didn't much care for Dunne's performance myself, but it was the earliest recording of "Smoke Gets in Your Eyes" that I could find.
The piano version reminds me of the Mr. Rogers' Neighborhood theme song.
Here, how about *this* cover of "Smoke Gets in Your Eyes," by Dinah Washington? A little better than Irene's? It looks like many singers have covered the song, which surprises me.
