Crippled Black Phoenix make dark, moody, rather layered prog/folk rock with definite post-rock influences when it comes to their long, instrumental passages. The band have been made from members and former members of bands like Mogwai, Electric Wizard and Gonga among others, and have an ever-changing and evolving line-up. So it just makes perfect sense that they would depart COMPLETELY from their sound, let the talented Daisy Chapman take charge of the vocals, and record a cover of a Journey song! It doesn't fit in well with the rest of their work at all, but personally I think it's pretty stunning! |

That's impressive that the drummer can play so quickly and cleanly.
I was inspired to listen to another one of their songs because I am in awe of the drumming. I don't heed much else in the song other than its energy...but the drumming. Wow! Havok - Afterburner Here's what I was listening to and planning to post before I heard the Havok song and got distracted: The Primitives - Spacehead

I'm loving this reconfigured album. So so good.
