Got a call about an old friend passing away this weekend. He was the kind of man most could only hope to be. Always kind hearted and full of jokes. Whether he knew you or not he was the type to give you the shirt off his back. I havent seen him in years but I would guess he had to be in his 70's. Drinking finally got the best of him and cirrhosis of the liver was more than he could overcome. I can count on one hand how many men of his great charactor ive ever met in life. The first time we met he pulled my truck out of a ditch which required the use of his backhoe. Not willing to take my money for repayment he just told me to help out the next person and keep the chain of good hearted deeds alive. We became good friends and later him and his family became like my own. I was many miles away from home and they made me feel as if I were always part of theirs. The years eventually brought me back to Texas, but ill never forget the many good deeds this man did for me in the time I was lucky enough to spend with him. I could only hope to be a quarter of the man he was. He was truly a great man and may he R.I.P.
