Sure is. I got nothing against simplicity or even the chord pattern itself but i do feel its over played so if you want to use it you gotta be a little more creative with it.

So does jazz but calling themes licks would make you look like a square. I think you're just mistaking derivative pentatonic electric guitar soloing phrases as core elements of the blues.

I don’t know what the legal definition is but when I hear the word licks I’m thinking extra little guitar doodles that don’t add quality.
