I don't know, past a couple videos on Youtube from 1977 they seem to sound more like their records afterward. I'm gonna have to do a deep dive I guess. Ugly Suicide is a fetish for me and I don't have enough of it.

Oh snap that's the good stuff. As much as the debut is great, stuff like this is just on another level.

You know what I'm officially calling an MB emergency meeting because this is the most primal electronic beat I've ever heard and I feel like there's something concerning the nature of man in there and I can't think about anything else right now.

Isn't that just industrial music?

Lucem, you're right, it's silly to talk about what I would or wouldn't do IRL. Glad you brought it up. Maybe you should write an instrumental about it. I recommend a piano paired with a clarinet. With ambient sounds of you hanging from your shower curtain you ****ing failure.

Like **** that. I understand that minimalism like that was being done before, but not in a pop music sense that was easily digestible and immediate. Like, you might have to take a minute to get used to that if you've been raised on a diet of only top 40 but I think you can still understand it as opposed to be thoroughly confused by La Monte Young no matter how hard you try.

Kinda yeah. But from 1975. Industrial music did not exist in 1975. Try to find anything that sounded like that from 1975. I'll wait.

But if it came out today it'd just be called industrial. Why would it not be called industrial just because industrial wasn't a genre yet?

I'll call it pre-industrial industrial.

Like, you totes could, but it would make more sense to marvel at what a band was able to create all by their ****ing selves with lord knows what influences that were going at the time (I'd love to know Suicide's influences in the mid-late 70s) and then explore what else they were able to do. I mean this for example.

Like I think Suicide might have been the most powerful band of the 70s. The best? I don't know, that's a tall order, but the most powerful quite possibly. They're definitely the band I'd kill the most people to see live when they were in their heyday.

Yeah I know the rockabilly, but if they were able to take rockabilly and with no other influences produce what they did then I'd be ready to call them the greatest band in all of pop music bar ****ing none. I'm sure they had other stuff to run through their filter though. They had to have. I mean kraut rock and the Monks and avant garde whateverthe****.
