When I was first hired as a teacher in America and they asked the new teachers to introduce themselves I sang First Day at Work for everybody. In Japan, I sang Happy Talk for the kids a few times. Standing on one tippy toe hands totally spread apart and wavering real fast: “How you gonna have a dream come truuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuue?”
That album is absolutely stacked with unforgettable great songs

In honor of George Clinton's birthday today, now spinning the 1970 first pressing of Parliament's debut LP, Osmium on the Invictus label.
For those who missed this score last October - it was a holy grail... free of charge. A good friend tipped me off to a used record collection in town so I took the chance and drove down to check it out. Mostly disco and jazz comps, nothing I needed, until I spotted this one oddity among them. I already had the Argentinian pic disc boot and got George Clinton to sign it for me at a Buffalo show, but never expected to find the original pressing, let alone in a garage. I hadn't hit the ATM yet so I asked the owner how much cash I should take out. He said, "just the one? Ahh, just take it. No charge." First press PFunk debut for free. I couldn't believe it. Make mine the P-Funk. <3
