If anyone wants some really good, creative IDM with a lot of hooks, I recommend checking out Xploding Plastix' 2008 album. It sounds nothing like their nu-jazz debut but it really does rock.

Just because electronic music has progressed / evolved since Daft Punks' time does not make it necessarily better.
Daft Punk is good pop / dance music. The recommendations you have given are solid, but really don't do what Daft Punk did BETTER. I still listen to them on occasion, and I doubt that will ever change to be honest. Just as I will continue to listen to Yes and Aphex Twin and Pinback and ...
