Christian Death—"When I Was Bed" There's a certain bit of heartbreak I feel when I listen to this song. Part of it is the song itself, and I guess part of it is just me feeling nostalgic about my gothy teenage years. |

The Drums
I would completely recommend The Drums to Indie music lovers.
I love their catchy, fun songs that make me want to go to the beach and chill out. The band don't take themselves too seriously and that's what it's all about! Go listen and enjoy! : ) |

Heh...I like the contrast between Electric Wizard's unapologetically simplistic descent-into-the-dark-side-of-hate "Black Mass" song and Ingrid Michaelson's unapologetically gentle and sweet cover-me-with-your-quiet-love-like-snow "Snowfall" love song, both of which are nice in their own heavy and light ways:
Earlier today I was listening to an old 'classic,' "Like a Virgin," which I first heard back in the 80s when I was friends with a sweet 13-year-old Italian ballerina who loved Madonna's music. We used to get together to practice dance in a big meeting room in our apartment complex in Berlin, so this song transports me back then and there. My favorite Madonna song, though, was always "Material Girl," which I'm listening to....now. I've always thought this song is fun and funny because of course wanting someone for material reasons represents the opposite of love, and yet the decadence of the Pepto Bismol pink world the video shows is luxuriously tempting in a frou-frouish sort of way. I also like the video because of the bit of sweetness it offers: it shows genuine affection and love winning out in the end:
