Just some buddies doin buddy things with their buddy toys.
I remember seeing Billy with Talas, opening for Yngwie. He did a 20 minute bass solo that made the Malm jealous. |

It took a bit of detective work, but I'm so relieved to have worked it out!
A faint memory crept into my skull this week of an image of an arm holding a letter. I vaguely recalled it being used as the header of a music blog around 2011 and suspected it was from a drone or post-rock LP. I dug through my ancient bookmarks and narrowed it down to a handful of extinct blogs. I ran each through The Wayback Machine and tracked it down as being the header from the blog Holy****ing****4000. And running the header through a reverse image search I arrived at the origin - Have A Nice Life's Deathconsciousness LP. And lo and behold, one of the track titles was the name of the blog. It took me six years, but I'm diving into a long-overdue first-listen to this "post-industrial doomgaze" gem. |
Video reminds me of this girl I used to talk to as she pretended to ignore me with her phone just like in this video. You know that look she gives her phone right before she leaves to sit somewhere else? She used to give me that look all the time. But I never sang to her, she actually sang to me. And every time I feel sad I think of that smile she gave me when she was singing to me. She was covering her face with her hands because she was shy about it, and when she looked up she gave me this smile that made me really happy and for a moment it seemed like everything would be okay. |

On the other hand, Plankton's Paul Gilbert post sent me back to a simple blast of teen rebellion that I'm happy to hear again and again:- "Pick it up, plug it in, Play Guitar!" Hasn't this sentiment been in the heart of a million adolecent boys from Chuck Berry to today!? PG does a great job of catching that irresistable rush of good old rock 'n' roll. |
