Waylon Jennings is so gloriously country that even his sister throws her panties on the stage at his shows.

First time I ever heard the Louvin Brothers' close harmony singing, I was kind of repulsed by how dated and cheesy it sounded, but as with much country, once I'd gotten used to the aesthetics I wondered how I'd ever lived without it. Gorgeous singing.

There's something about Willie Nelson's country ballads that transcend country itself. Something singular, that speaks of vision and realized potential which so many of his still-talented contemporaries could never quite reach. Willie Nelson can sound country as ****, but either way he just sounds like Willie.

TFW you realize that Red Headed Stranger is really about Willie Nelson's feelings toward country music in the 60s/70s. ****ing outlaw country personified.

If in ten years I'm a middle-aged pussy who's over Slayer and ICP and Britney Spears, I will still be listening to Willie Nelson. I'm callin' it. When I'm old and boring this will be my ****.
