Ethiopian Jazz is great. It's interesting how its made something of a revival in recent years, fueled by that great Ethiopiques series, and a lot of sampling in the hip hop and electronic music community.
Just started listening to Galaxie 500 a little while ago, but I think this song is pretty incredible. The whole On Fire album is amazing. |

And here's another list
I really like mix tapes, so that's why you get these lists all the time . Has anyone of you ever heard of "Sweet Smoke"? Hear hear!

sounds interesting. Hard to judge as I'm in bed now with my netbook on my lap. Tiiiny speaker. I'll have a better listen tomorrow.
This might be something for me... I have to stop myself from getting out of bed and turning on my PC. Should keep a pair of headphones on my nightstand

Stanley Turrentine-The Return of the Prodigal Son
A strong tenor saxophone(Stanley), and a stronger drumbeat(Ray Lucas). What else do you need to say? Also, a great job by pianist McCoy Tyner. A song with a strong, moving beat and some melodies to help. |
